Statewide Tertiary Adult Audiology Service referrals

Statewide Tertiary Adult Audiology Service referrals

The Statewide Tertiary Adult Audiology Service provides adult audiological assessments and hearing (aural) rehabilitation services across the public hospital system, including:

  • Fiona Stanley Hospital
  • Fremantle Hospital
  • Royal Perth Hospital
  • Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

Paediatric services are provided at Fiona Stanley Hospital and Fremantle Hospital. These services are also available to paediatric patients living within the SMHS catchment (PDF 2MB) at Fiona Stanley Hospital and Fremantle Hospital.

Collaborative 'Sound decisions' education session – Thursday 12 March 2026

General practitioners and public and private hearing health professionals (audiologists and audiometrists) are invited to attend a collaborative session bridging community care and services delivered by the Statewide Tertiary Adult Audiology Service.

Our services

Our experienced and dedicated audiologists identify, assess and provide rehabilitation services for hearing, dizziness and vertigo, and other ear-related conditions. These services include:

  • ear and hearing health assessment
  • comprehensive balance function assessment
  • tinnitus assessment
  • hearing implant candidacy assessments, including cochlear implants and middle ear and bone conduction implants
  • hearing rehabilitation for cochlear, middle ear and bone conduction implant users
  • objective and intraoperative electrophysiological hearing assessment
  • close monitoring hearing loss, balance disturbance and tinnitus that can result from taking specific medications (ototoxicity monitoring).

Inpatient referrals

The service provides inpatient services to all ward areas across:

  • Fiona Stanley Hospital
  • Fremantle Hospital
  • Royal Perth Hospital
  • Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

Referrals can be submitted as an e-Referral, verbal or paged referral

Outpatient referrals

General practitioners and other health professionals referring a patient must send a written referral highlighting the assessment required.

Please note patients are prioritised on clinical need.

If referring for hearing implant assessment, please attach previous test results and hearing aids optimisation reports to the referral.
