Nursing and midwifery staff across Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group (FSFHG) recently came together to celebrate the annual FSFHG Nursing and Midwifery Caritas Awards.

Recognising and rewarding outstanding nursing and midwifery contributions across the group, the awards celebrated the unwavering commitment and dedication of staff.

Acting Area Director of Nursing and Midwifery Amanda Hannaway said the FSFHG Caritas Awards provide a valuable opportunity to recognise nursing and midwifery excellence throughout the group.

"We have so many dedicated nursing and midwifery colleagues who not only provide the highest levels of patient-centred care, but are also leaders in their field, driving innovations in clinical practice to ensure our health service provides excellent health care every time.

"Congratulations to all nominees and category winners; the calibre of candidates and examples was exceptional and made me feel proud to work amongst such talented individuals and teams," she said.

Congratulations to the following category winners:

Assistant in Nursing (AIN) of the Year – Dawn Boxer

Dawn's unwavering commitment, compassion, and outstanding leadership as an AIN has significantly contributed to the wellbeing of patients and the success of the ward. Dawn's impact extends beyond patient care where she actively collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, is a champion in comprehensive care and has significantly contributed to reducing hospital-acquired complications. In addition, Dawn’s involvement in urinary tract infection (UTI) reduction strategies and falls prevention initiatives further highlight her proactive and holistic approach to patient care.

Eager to learn and grow in his surgical skills, Rein’s enthusiasm towards his professional development is commendable and shows his appreciation of the complexity of the nursing profession.
