Speech Pathology

Speech Pathology

Speech pathology services across Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospital Group (FSFHG) treat inpatients and outpatients at both Fiona Stanley and Fremantle hospitals.

Our speech pathologists assess, diagnose and treat people experiencing difficulties with:

  • swallowing
  • communication
  • speech
  • language
  • voice.

The Speech Pathology department works as part of the multidisciplinary team to:

  • assess and manage patients with communication and/or swallowing difficulties
  • provide specialist services in stroke and other neurological conditions, such as motor neurone disease, functional neurological disorder, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, head and neck cancer, tracheostomy, voice, and paediatric feeding disorders, amongst other conditions.

Specialist clinics are run to deliver instrumental swallow studies including fibreoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) and videofluoroscopy swallow studies (VFSS).
