Respiratory Medicine

Respiratory Medicine at Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group provides a broad range of adult respiratory diagnostic and therapeutic services to both inpatients and outpatients.

At Fiona Stanley Hospital we provide tertiary level care with all range of acuity, with Fremantle Hospital serving as an extension of our ward as a step-down service.

The respiratory service is broadly divided into:

  • General respiratory service
  • Interventional pulmonology (including pleural diseases)
  • Sleep medicine
  • Advanced lung diseases unit.

Learn breathing exercises to improve lung function and respiratory health

Clearing excess phlegm helps you manage certain health conditions, especially if you have a lung disease or other respiratory condition.

This video will show you how breathing exercises known as the active cycle of breathing technique can help open your airways and clear phlegm.

Education and training opportunities

We provide educational and training opportunities for basic, advanced and post-fellowship clinical training across a wide range of sub-specialties within respiratory medicine.

We have an active research program including investigator-driven and industry-sponsored research. We also provide research supervision for medical students, basic and advanced trainees. In addition, we can tailor fellowship opportunities on a case-by-case basis.
