Outpatient pharmacies

Outpatient pharmacies

Both Fiona Stanley and Fremantle Hospital have outpatient pharmacies which dispense specialised medications for patients who attend an outpatient clinic.

Please note our outpatient pharmacies are currently unable to accept and dispense electronic prescriptions. These can only be dispensed at a community pharmacy. Read more about electronic prescriptions below.

Fiona Stanley Hospital

The outpatient pharmacy is located in the concourse near the entrance to the main hospital building – see the Fiona Stanley Hospital map (1MB).

During COVID-19 you may also request non-Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and/or highly specialised medication be couriered to their nominated address.

Read more about the Fiona Stanley Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy.

Fremantle Hospital

The Outpatient Pharmacy is located in B block, level 2.

It is open 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday and closed weekends and public holidays.

About electronic prescriptions

Outpatients at Fiona Stanley and Fremantle hospitals can choose if they wish to receive a secure electronic prescription rather than the standard paper prescription.

An electronic prescription can be used to obtain most medicines from your local community pharmacy. About 90 per cent of community pharmacies are already registered to dispense electronic prescriptions. Learn more about electronic prescriptions (external site).

Please note our outpatient pharmacies are currently unable to accept and dispense electronic prescriptions.

If you want to use an electronic prescription, you doctor can send a QR code token:

  • to you via SMS or email, which you take to your community pharmacy to collect your medication
  • to your Active Script List (external site) – if you have created one – which your community pharmacist can access directly once you show appropriate identification.

Repeat prescriptions

If you have repeat prescriptions, you will receive a new QR code token in an SMS or email when you get your medicine from your community pharmacy.

Lost or missing electronic prescriptions

If you are an outpatient at:

  • Fiona Stanley Hospital, please phone the Helpdesk on 6152 2222 and ask to be connected to the outpatient clinic you attended.
  • Fremantle Hospital, please phone the switchboard on 9431 3333 and ask to be connected to the outpatient clinic you attended.
