Start your exercise

Start your exercise

Getting yourself in the best shape before surgery will improve the quality of your recovery. A good prescription is 30 minutes of exercise per day that leaves you breathless but still able to speak.

To help plan your care and determine the best treatment for you we will also ask questions about your ability to exercise.

Your physiotherapist can also help you start building your fitness today in preparation for your surgery and recovery.

This video outlines what to expect and exercises you can start now to help reduce complications from your surgery and your length of your hospital stay.

You can also check out these LifeFit fitness exercises and start building your fitness today.

Talk with your healthcare team about how to start building your fitness for surgery. If you have any questions after viewing this video, write them down so you can ask your healthcare team at your next appointment.
