Cardiology

With a commitment to innovation, expertise and compassionate care, Fiona Stanley Hospital is dedicated to promoting heart health and improving the lives of patients with cardiac conditions. It is recognised as the largest public provider of cardiovascular services in Western Australia.

Fiona Stanley Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services for a range of cardiac conditions, including a range of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic imaging and testing services.

Services at Fiona Stanley Hospital

We provide the following services to patients across the south metropolitan area:

  • 24-hour on call angiography
  • Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Service
  • 20-bed Coronary Care Unit
  • 24-bed Cardiology Ward
  • Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Service
  • angiography suite including 2 angiography rooms and 2 electrophysiology rooms
  • interventional cardiology
  • electrophysiology
  • cardiac implantable electronic device implantation including pacemaker, internal defibrillator, and resynchronisation therapies
  • structural heart valvular therapies
  • heart failure
  • cardiac rehabilitation
  • Cardiometabolic Service
  • cardio-obstetric consultation
  • echocardiography including transthoracic, transoesophageal and stress echocardiology
  • Cardiac Diagnostic Testing Service.

Services at Fremantle Hospital

Inpatient echocardiography service is provided at Fremantle Hospital on Tuesday and Thursdays.

Rapid Access Chest Pain clinic referrals

The Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic at Fiona Stanley Hospital is a clinical service which aims to provide patients with new onset of chest pain, suggestive of angina or patients with previously stable IHD with recent deterioration of symptoms, with direct and timely access to expert assessment and investigation. Fiona Stanley and Fremantle hospitals offer programs and education sessions to supports patients who have experienced or are at risk of cardiac (heart) conditions.
