Rheumatology

The Fiona Stanley Hospital Rheumatology Service provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to inpatient and outpatient care for adults with autoimmune and inflammatory disorders.

Patients with the following conditions are seen by our service:

  • systemic autoimmune connective tissue disease, for example lupus, Sjogren syndrome, scleroderma
  • inflammatory joint disease, for example rheumatoid arthritis
  • spondyloarthritis
  • autoinflammatory disorders
  • vasculitis
  • myositis.

Early Inflammatory Arthritis Clinic

Early diagnosis and treatment lead to better long-term clinical outcomes and a better quality of life for people with rheumatoid arthritis.

The Early Inflammatory Arthritis (EIA) Clinic streamlines rapid outpatient rheumatology assessment and management of patients with suspected new onset rheumatoid arthritis. Read more about the EIA clinic, including how to refer a patient.

Education and training opportunities

Our service provides educational and training opportunities for basic, advanced and post-fellowship clinical training across a wide range of rheumatology sub-specialties.

Our active research program including investigator-driven and industry-sponsored research. We provide research supervision for medical students, basic and advanced trainees, and can tailor fellowship opportunities on a case-by-case basis.

Opening hours

An on-site consultant rheumatologist is available 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
