Nephrology

The department of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation at Fiona Stanley Hospital provides a comprehensive diagnosis and management service for adults throughout all stages of kidney disease, up to and including dialysis and transplantation.

The department provides the following services at Fiona Stanley Hospital:

  • an outpatient service
  • a large inpatient unit
  • inpatient and outpatient renal dialysis.

Our services

Areas of expertise within our department include:

  • renal transplantation
  • renal dialysis including home therapies
  • high acuity kidney disease management
  • maternal renal medicine
  • renal genetics
  • renal cancer predisposition genetics and surveillance
  • transition from paediatric renal services to adult renal services
  • young adult nephrology
  • kidney biopsy for diagnostic purposes
  • palliative care in renal disease.
  • Outreach clinics

    We provide outreach clinics and support to communities and their dialysis units in several locations across Western Australia, including:

    • Albany
    • Busselton
    • Bunbury
    • Kalgoorlie
    • Karratha
    • Newman
    • Port Hedland.

    Manage your outpatient appointment

    Manage My Care is a free mobile and web-based app where you can track public outpatient appointments and referrals for yourself or those in your care at times that are convenient for you.

    For health professionals

    Routine referrals from general practitioners and private specialists are to be sent directly to the Central Referral Service (external site).

    Renal outpatient clinics are located in Outpatient Clinic 1, Dialysis Outpatient Clinic or State Rehabilitation Building. Please see your appointment letter for the clinic location or view the Fiona Stanley Hospital map (PDF 1MB)

    8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
