Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service

Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service

Our Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) provides comprehensive, person-centred care for women throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period.

Our small team of dedicated midwives is committed to supporting you and your family during this special time.

Benefits of MAPS include:

  • continuity of care with a primary midwife throughout your pregnancy journey
  • evidence-based care combined with compassionate, personalised support
  • collaboration with other specialist services as required
  • care from a supportive community of professionals dedicated to maternal and infant wellbeing
  • home visits and ongoing care after birth to support recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.

What to expect

After your referral is accepted, you will receive an appointment letter for your first (booking) appointment between 16 to18 weeks of pregnancy.

During this appointment we will:

  • discuss your medical history
  • provide initial advice
  • plan your care
  • assign a named midwife who will coordinate your care throughout pregnancy.

Regular antenatal appointments will be scheduled at recommended intervals throughout your pregnancy.

When the time comes to deliver your baby, you will birth in the main maternity services

After birth, our postnatal team will provide support through home visits and clinic appointments
