Maternity (obstetric) referrals
Fiona Stanley Hospital's Maternity Service focuses on providing a woman-centred model of care. We offer care for low-risk women within our postcode catchment and care for women with complex medical and obstetric problems.
Ideally, referrals for antenatal women are made after 13 weeks gestation or after the first trimester screen results have been reviewed by the referring GP. All women not participating in GP Shared Care will have a booking visit between 16 to 18 weeks gestation with a midwife.
The schedule of visits and the model of care provided to each woman will be based on the information provided by their GP as well as the information established from their booking visit.
GP Shared Care is a service offered by FSH.
GPs will receive a discharge summary following the completion of a patients’ pregnancy. This will outline all details regarding antenatal care, labour and birth summary as well as post-natal care.
