SurgFit School

SurgFit School

Our LifeFit-SurgFit program supports you to make simple health and wellbeing changes before surgery to help you have a quicker recovery with better outcomes.

If your treating team think you will benefit from more intensive support during your surgical journey, you will be invited to attend an online SurgFit School session.

This 45-minute group education session will help you learn:

  • about good nutrition and the importance of healthy body weight
  • how exercise can reduce your hospital stay and treatment complications
  • how mindfulness and developing a positive approach to your surgical journey can improving your quality of life and surgical outcomes
  • about the possible effects of smoking, alcohol, and recreational drugs on surgical outcomes.

How to attend SurgFit School

You will be invited to participate in SurgFit school by letter, a phone call or SMS (text message) to your mobile number.

We will send the link to join the session by SMS before your appointment. We will also provide detailed instructions on how to use the Health Direct video system we use for these online sessions.
