Doing your pre-surgery assessments

Like all major events in life, surgery involves both benefits and risks.

To help your treating team support you to cope better with surgery and understand its likely outcomes, you may be asked to complete a number of tests and assessments before surgery. These may include:

• questionnaires
• blood and pathology tests
• medical imaging tests
• other tests, including heart and lung tests

You team may also ask if you have adequate supports in place for after your surgery to help you manage your care needs
