Dermatology

Dermatology

Dermatology is the care and treatment of people with skin, hair and/or nail conditions.

The Fiona Stanley Hospital Dermatology Service provides:

  • a general consulting service, including:
    • paediatric dermatology
    • vulvar dermatology
    • skin cancer assessment and management.
  • a comprehensive allergy patch testing service
  • nbUVB phototherapy
  • CO2 laser
  • nurse-led daily admission avoidance clinic.

A store-and-forward TeleDerm service is available to referring practitioners when deemed clinically appropriate by the triaging dermatology consultant upon referral review.

A monthly adult dermatology outreach clinic is held at Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service (Derbarl) in East Perth. The clinic is co-ordinated by Derbarl, and referrals are accepted from Derbarl clinicians for Derbarl clients.

Referrals for suspected primary psychiatric disorders with dermatological manifestations (e.g., delusions of parasitosis, body dysmorphic disorder, dermatitis artefacta) are only accepted if the patient is currently under the care of, or has been concurrently referred to, an appropriate community mental health service.
