Endocrinology and diabetes referrals

Our Endocrinology and Diabetes service provides a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to inpatient and outpatient care for adults.

Referring to Fiona Stanley or Fremantle hospitals

Urgent referrals (FSH only)

Please contact the Endocrinology registrar via the FSH Helpdesk on 6152 2222 to discuss the referral.

Once the referral has been accepted, please fax to 6152 9762 or email FSH.Referrals@health.wa.gov.au

Non-urgent referrals

Routine referrals from GPs and private specialists are to be sent directly to the Central Referral Service (external site) on fax number 1300 365 056.

Diabetes referrals

Before creating a referral, referrers are encouraged to consider Diabetes WA Connect (external site). Free specialist advice from an endocrinologist is available on demand by calling (08) 9436 6270 or booking online. Referrers may also access multidisciplinary case conferencing via Microsoft Teams, involving an endocrinologist, credentialled diabetes educator and Aboriginal health practitioner where appropriate. Eligible MBS items may be claimable (MBS Item 735).

Early access to this specialist advice may remove the need for an outpatient referral.
